What Does ‘Active’ Mean in the ‘Company Status’ Field?

When you log in to your Companies MadeSimple account and visit your Company Admin page, you’ll see a field labelled “Company Status.” This is also seen on the public register at Companies House.

In most cases, it will say: “Active.”

But what does that actually mean?

What “Active” Really Means

An Active status simply means that your company:

• Has been officially formed (incorporated)

• Is not dissolved or removed from the Companies House register

✅ Important: It does not refer to your company’s trading status.

So, even if your company is dormant (not currently trading), the status will still show as Active as long as it legally exists and is in good standing.
