When your UK company is formed—whether through Companies MadeSimple or directly with Companies House—you’re automatically issued a 6-character WebFiling Authentication Code.
This code is essential for making updates to your company online, including changes to your registered office address. But if you’ve lost or never received your code, don’t worry—you can still make the change manually.
How to Change Your Registered Office Without the Authentication Code
If you don’t have access to your WebFiling Authentication Code, you’ll need to submit a paper form (AD01) by post.
Here’s what to do:
Download and print the AD01 (Change of Registered Office) form.
Fill in the form with your company name, registration number, and your new registered office address.
Sign the form. It must be signed by a director or authorised person.
Where to Send the Form
The postal address depends on where your company is registered:
🏢 For Companies Registered in England & Wales:
The Registrar of Companies
Companies House
Crown Way
Cardiff
CF14 3UZ
DX 33050 Cardiff
🏢 For Companies Registered in Scotland:

🏢 For Companies Registered in Northern Ireland:

What Happens Next?
Once your form is received by Companies House, the change is usually processed and updated on the public register within 10 working days.
✅ Tip: You can also request a replacement authentication code online if you’d prefer to manage future changes digitally. Request a new code here.
