As part of the new identity verification requirements introduced by Companies House from 18 November 2025, all company officers — both directors and PSCs — will be issued a unique 11-character personal code once their identity has been verified under the new rules.
Directors and PSCs must then provide this code to Companies House within the applicable deadline depending on their role and appointment type.
To ensure compliance, companies and officers should always check the Companies House public register to confirm appointment dates and relevant deadlines.
Verification deadlines for directors and PSCs
| Officer Type | When to Verify? |
|---|---|
| New Director | As part of the company registration or new officer appointment filing. |
| Existing Director | As part of the company's next Confirmation Statement filing. |
| New PSC | Within 14 days of being added to the Companies House register |
| Existing PSC (also a director) | Within 14 days from company’s Confirmation Statement date |
| Existing PSC (PSC-only) | Within the first 14 days of the PSC’s birth month |
Important Points
-
Existing Directors who are also PSCs must provide their personal code separately for each role:
As a director, submit via the company’s confirmation statement.
As a PSC, submit via the ‘Provide identity verification details for a person with significant control (PSC)’ service within 14 days, starting the day after the confirmation statement date.
Multiple roles or companies: The same personal code can be used across all filings.
Verify dates: Always check the Companies House public register for appointment dates, confirmation statements, and PSC birth months.
