As part of new identity verification requirements being introduced by Companies House from 18th November 2025, all company officers will be issued a unique personal code once their identity has been verified. This code plays a key role in managing your responsibilities as a company officer.
1. What Is a Companies House Personal Code — and Why Do You Need It?
A Companies House personal code is an 11-character, unique reference number assigned to a company officer after their identity has been successfully verified under the new rules.
You will need this code to:
- Register a new company
- Be appointed as a director or PSC of an existing company
- File confirmation statements or act on behalf of a company at Companies House
Without this code, you will not be able to carry out these actions.
2. How Do You Get a Personal Code?
You can obtain your personal code by completing the identity verification process either:
- Directly through Companies House, or
- Through a registered Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) like us.
We recommend verifying your identity through our secure portal.
Once you’ve completed the ID check and all required documents are approved, we will submit your identity information to Companies House.
Companies House will then issue your personal code, which will be sent directly to you by Companies House via email.
3. How To Provide Us With Your Personal Code?
Once you receive your personal code from Companies House, please share it with us securely so we can:
- Link your verified identity to your existing or future company
- Ensure your filings and appointments are properly authorised
- Keep your company records compliant under the new regulations
You can send us your personal code via:
- Our secure client portal, or
- By contacting our support team, who will guide you through a safe way to share the code
