As part of the new identity verification requirements introduced by Companies House from 18 November 2025, all company officers — both directors and PSCs — will be issued a unique 11-character personal code once their identity has been verified under the new rules.
All Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) must then provide their personal code to Companies House. The exact deadline depends on whether the PSC is also a director, and on their appointment type.
To ensure compliance, PSCs and companies should always check the Companies House public register to confirm appointment dates and birth months.
PSC verification deadlines
| PSC Type | Also Director? | When to Verify? |
|---|---|---|
| New PSC | Yes or No | Within 14 days of being added to Companies House register |
| Existing PSC (PSC-only) | No | Within the first 14 days of your birth month |
| Existing PSC | Yes | Within 14 days from company’s Confirmation Statement date |
Important Points
New PSCs must submit their code within the 14‑day window after being added to the Companies House register.
Existing PSCs who already have a personal code do not need a new code, but must provide the existing code within the relevant timeframe depending on their role.
PSCs linked to multiple companies use the same code for all filings, whether they are directors or not.
Always check the Companies House public register to verify the correct dates for appointments and the PSC’s birth month.
Submit your PSC verification
PSCs can provide their personal verification code using the official service here: Provide PSC identity verification details.
