How do I get my Companies House Personal Code?

Your Companies House Personal Code is an 11-character code issued after you successfully verify your identity with Companies House.

You will need this code to confirm your identity when required for your role as a director or Person with Significant Control (PSC).

How do I get my Personal Code?

There are two ways to verify your identity:

Option 1: Verify directly with Companies House

You can verify your identity directly through Companies House using GOV.UK One Login.

Option 2: Verify through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP)

You can also complete your identity verification through an authorised provider such as Made Simple Group.

Verify your identity with us

Once your identity check has been successfully completed, we submit the required verification information to Companies House.

Where will I receive my Personal Code?

After your identity has been successfully verified, Companies House will send your Personal Code by email.

If you verified through an ACSP, the code is sent to the email address provided to Companies House during the verification process.

Your Personal Code is an 11-character code and is different from your company's 6-character authentication code.

Can't find the email?

Please check:

• Your inbox
• Your spam or junk folder
• Any other email address you may have used during the verification process

Search your mailbox for emails from Companies House.

I have completed my ID check but haven't received my code

If your identity verification has been completed but you cannot find your Personal Code, first check your email and spam/junk folders.

If you still cannot find it, do not complete another identity check. Your identity may already have been successfully verified.

If you completed your verification through Made Simple Group, please contact us so we can check the status of your verification and the details submitted to Companies House.

I provided the wrong email address

If the email address provided for your verification was incorrect, please contact us as soon as possible.

We can check the details submitted with your verification and advise you on the next steps. If necessary, you may need to provide an alternative email address so that a new verification can be arranged.

What do I do with my Personal Code?

Keep your Personal Code safe.

You may need to provide it to Companies House to link your verified identity to your company role. The same Personal Code can be used for each director or PSC role you hold.

For example, you may need to provide your Personal Code when:

• Filing a confirmation statement as a director
• Registering as a new director
• Providing identity verification details for a PSC

Important

Your Personal Code is personal to you. It is not your company authentication code and it will not appear on the public Companies House register.
