If your WebFiling Authentication Code is lost, invalid, or expired, you won’t be able to make any changes to your company details using either your MadeSimple account or the Companies House WebFiling service.
You’ll usually see an error message if your code isn’t working. Don’t worry—requesting a new one is simple.
How to Request a New Authentication Code
Follow these steps to request a replacement code directly from Companies House:
-
Go to the Companies House WebFiling service.
-
Log in or register for an account if you're new to the service.
-
Select “Request Authentication Code.”
-
Enter your company registration number.
-
Select “Request code.”
📨 Companies House will send the new code by post to your registered office address within 5–7 working days.
Once You Receive the New Code
To update the code in your MadeSimple account:
-
Log in to your MadeSimple account.
-
Click the “Update Code” button on your company details page.
-
Enter the new code provided by Companies House.
To confirm your new code is working:
-
Click “Sync Data with Companies House” (located in the Quick Links section on the right side of your account).
-
You should see a banner message:
“Your company has been synchronised with data from Companies House.”
Your authentication code is like your company’s PIN number. Anyone with it can change your company details online. To keep your company secure:
-
Store the code safely and don’t share it.
-
Be cautious of unsolicited requests for your code—even if they appear official.
-
If someone contacts you asking for your code and claims to be from Companies House, report it immediately to Companies House.
