A person that has significant control (PSC) in a company will need to be listed on your PSC register and Companies House notified along with the reason as to what stipulates them as having significant control.
In the section where you appoint a (or edit an existing) PSC there will be the Nature of Control list, which you will need to pick the option(s) which best describes the PSC.
The Nature of Control is made up of 4 categories (Based on Limited by Shares company type):
- Ownership of shares
- Ownership of voting rights
- Right to appoint or remove the majority of the board of directors
- Has significant influence or control
Depending on the type of limited company, ie, Limited by Share, Limited by Guarantee and LLP; the Nature of Control list will vary slightly. Below is the Nature of Control lists you will see for each limited company type:
Limited by Shares
Limited by Guarantee
Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
These are all options when fully expanded (Limited by Shares - Most Common Company Type)
