The business address you put on your VAT application is the address where you carry out your day to day activities. VAT officers can visit your business to inspect your VAT records, so it is important to provide an address where you are physically present in. If you work from home, that is your business address.
The following cannot be used as a business address for a VAT application:
- our N1 address (even if you use our registered office address services)
- a virtual office address
- an accountant's address
- PO BOX addresses
- 'care of' addresses
Doing so will result in HMRC returning your application.
