A WebFiling Authentication Code is a unique 6-character alphanumeric code issued by Companies House to every UK limited company.
Think of it as your company's electronic signature. It verifies your identity and gives you permission to securely update your company’s information online.
Why It’s Important
This code is required whenever you want to:
File updates about your company (like changing directors or your registered office)
Submit confirmation statements
File annual accounts
Make updates via your MadeSimple account or Companies House WebFiling services
Without this code, you won’t be able to make any changes to your company’s details online.
Using the Code with Your MadeSimple Account
When you add your authentication code to your MadeSimple account:
It links your account directly with Companies House
Our system can sync updates between your company profile on MadeSimple and Companies House
You can manage your business admin all in one place—easily, quickly, and securely
Where to Find Your Code
You’ll usually receive the code by post at your registered office shortly after your company is formed. If you’ve misplaced it, you can request a new one via the Companies House website. If you form your company through Companies Made Simple, your code will automatically be found on your account linked with your company.
