The Companies House Default Address is:
PO Box 4385, [Company number]: Companies House default address, Cardiff, CF14 8LH
This address is commonly seen as a Registered Office address for companies that have been deemed to not have authority to use the address they used prior to the default one appearing by Companies House.
When might the Default Address be used?:
If a person or business believes that their address is being used as a registered office address without their permission, they may file an RP07 (Disputed Registered Office Address) Form. Common reasons for this may have been because of non-payment for the use of the address, no permission from the landlord of a property to use the address for the purpose of running a business or the fraudulent use of an address with no authorisation.
If Companies House believe the RP07 claim is legitimate they will allow 28 days for the company to either appeal (with evidence) the decision or change the address to an alternative one in the same country the company is registered before updating the address to the default address as seen above. This will forever be on the public register in the filing history.
What happens with my company if it has the default address?
The Company's mail will also be going to Companies House's address in Cardiff rather than to the company/ it's directors.
We recommend you contacting us if you notice this address is assigned to your company or potentially will be assigned in due course and we can try to assist or advise you on next steps.
